St. Augustine Plumber’s Advice for maintaining your St. Augustine plumbing system in top working condition.
Everyone knows that maintenance required for any system in your home for it to work properly.
There are some things that you need to check up on every month and some things need to be looked at every 6 months for them to remain in tip-top shape.
Some of the main things that a home owner needs to do every 6 months :
– Your refrigerator’s ice maker filter needs to be replaced
– You need to inspect HVAC condensate drain pipe for clogs and flush it if required.
– All the aerators need to be cleared of the debris.
– Check and adjust your toilet tank levels if needed
– Check flappers for leaks and change the ones that are damaged
– Check for wobbling / loose toilet(s)
– Tighten loose bolts on toilet seats
– All of the p-traps in your home need to be checked for leaks and hand tighten if needed
– Check all stops and supply lines for leaks.
– Clear your laundry hose connector sand traps and inspect hoses
– Remove hair from tub, shower and lavatory drains
– Inspect shower heads and clear if clogged
– Open your sewer clean-out caps and check for good flow
– Check your meter box for leaks (be very careful and watch out for Black Widow spiders!)
– Open water heater relief valve and replace if it fails to open.
Once a month run a bucket of ice through your disposer to clear and clean.
If you follow these simple and very practical steps you will avoid spending thousands of dollars on emergency plumbing disasters by preventing them.
